Prevention is Key

PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a once daily pill that can prevent you from contracting HIV.
PEP, or post-exposure prophylaxis, is a 28-day medication regiment that can be prescribed if you believe you have been exposed to HIV. If started within 72 hours, PEP can prevent HIV infection.
The #1 filled prescription at KC CARE’s on-site pharmacy is PrEP! We are passionate about connecting our community to this valuable resource. Our PrEP Navigator and pharmacy staff will help you find options to cover the cost of your PrEP medication. For more information, please contact Travis Cohen at travisc@kccare.org.

KC CARE’s Prevention Team can help connect you to medical care if you need PrEP, PEP, if you are newly diagnosed with HIV, or if you have HIV and have lost touch with your provider. If you just received an HIV diagnosis, we can connect you to Same Day Start to ensure you’re able to access medicine as quickly as possible. If you need help understanding your treatment plan, we can put you in touch with our Peer Treatment Adherence Team.
