KC CARE Prevention Programs

  • Partners in Prevention

Join our efforts to prevent HIV & STIs in our community. Partners in Prevention is a program that provides classes in HIV prevention for community gatekeepers. Gatekeepers then become resources for information on sexual empowerment within their communities. If you are interested in learning more, email Wes Warner at wesw@kccare.org.

  • PrEP Up

It’s time to PrEP Up, Kansas City! Even though PrEP was introduced 10 years ago, the CDC estimates in 2020 that only 25% of people who could benefit from it have access. Among women, the CDC estimates in 2018 that only 7% who could benefit from PrEP have access. We want to change that! Contact Travis Cohen travisc@kccare.org for more information.

  • Prevention for HERR

Did you know that even though Black women only make up 13% of women in the US, they accounted for 58% of new HIV diagnoses among women in 2018? Protect your Peach is a program designed to address the unique experiences of Black women who are cis- and transgender. To learn more, contact prevention@kccare.org.
