    Partners in Prevention

    Join our efforts to educate your community about HIV & STI prevention. Partners in Prevention is a program that provides you with continuing education units in HIV/STI prevention focused on addressing stigma. The workshop is provided virtually, in-person, or hybrid for small to large groups. If you are interested in learning more, email Wes Warner at wesw@kccare.org.

    PrEP Up

    PrEP Up, Kansas City!

    PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a safe and highly effective way to prevent HIV. When taken as prescribed, PrEP can reduce the risk of acquiring HIV by up to 99%.

    Despite its effectiveness, many people who could benefit from PrEP still face barriers—including limited awareness, stigma, difficulty finding a provider, insurance and affordability concerns, transportation challenges, poverty, and housing instability.

    These barriers are especially apparent among young people and women. In 2025, people ages 13–24 represented only 10% of PrEP users nationwide, although they accounted for 18% of new HIV diagnoses in 2024. Women also represented only 10% of PrEP users but accounted for 20% of new HIV diagnoses during the same period.¹
